Deferred Compensation Program
Updated On: Sep 11, 2014

The City and County of San Francisco Deferred Compensation Program now offers GoalMaker®,

an optional investing solution available at no additional cost

Choosing the right investment mix is one of the most important—and challenging—steps you can take to help save for retirement. Whether you’re too busy to select your own investments or just need a little assistance, you can now look to the optional GoalMaker asset allocation program for help.

GoalMaker uses model portfolios made up of funds already available under your retirement plan, based on your answers to the following questions:

  • What is your Investor Style (Conservative, Moderate, or Aggressive)?
  • When do you expect to retire?

It also includes the following features to help keep your portfolio on track with your initial allocations:

  • Automatic Rebalancing, moves money quarterly among your investments within your portfolio to help keep your account in balance.
  • Age Adjustment shifts your investments to a more conservative allocation as you get closer to retirement.

If you elect GoalMaker, your entire account balance and future contributions will be invested in the appropriate portfolio. As your goals and years to retirement change, you can select a new GoalMaker portfolio at any time.

You are always free to select any GoalMaker portfolio or opt out of the program at any time.

GoalMaker’s model allocations are based on generally accepted financial theories that take into account the historic returns of different asset classes. But, of course, past performance of any investment does not guarantee future results. Prudential Financial encourages participants to consider their other assets, income, and investments when enrolling in the GoalMaker program. We also recommend participants periodically reassess their GoalMaker investments to make sure their model portfolio continues to correspond to their changing attitudes and retirement time horizon.  There are no additional charges to participate in GoalMaker. Expenses for the investment options used within the portfolios may apply.

Keep in mind that application of asset allocation and diversification concepts does not ensure a profit or protect against loss in a declining market.  It is possible to lose money by investing in securities.

Retirement products and services are provided by Prudential Retirement Insurance and Annuity Company, Hartford, CT, or its affiliates.
