Whitehead Named to California Employment Board

IAFF General President Emeritus Alfred K. Whitehead was recently appointed to the California Public Employment Relations Board by Gov. Gray Davis.

The board is a quasi-judicial administrative agency charged with administering the collective bargaining statutes covering employees of California’s public schools, colleges, and universities, as well as state employees.

Whitehead, 70, returned to his Huntington Beach, Calif. home following his retirement last year after serving as IAFF General President for 12 years. Whitehead was a Los Angeles County fire fighter from 1954 to 1982 and president of L.A. County Local 1014 for 12 years.
