Bob was a San Francisco native and graduated from Commerce High School. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve from 1938-1940. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the U.S.S. Pennsylvania from 1942 through 1945. He joined the S.F.F.D. on Jan. 25, 1950 and worked at 49 Engine (E40) until he was promoted to lieutenant in 1969. He retired from 7 Truck on July 7, 1980. Bob was a pilot and flight instructor as well as a 30-year naval reservist, retiring from VP-871, N.A.S. Alameda. Bob is survived by his wife, Corinne, sons, Michael and Frederick, daughter-in-law, Yvonne, grandchildren, Marilyn, Michelle, Erik, Nikolaus, Grace and great-grandson, Dominic. A private memorial and scattering of ashes at sea was held on March 5, 2004.
