SF Firefighters Capture “Law Enforcement” Title for the Twenty-Eight Time at the 31 st Annual Christmas Relays - 12/13/04
By Jim Gallagher
San Francisco Firefighter Runners claimed another victory at the West Valley Track Club’s annual Relays held at Lake Merced. Nearly two hundred teams competed in this annual event within eighteen divisions. The San Francisco team of Larry McDonnell (Station 16), Cesar Guillon (Station 11), Glenn Kircher (Station 5) and Chris Murphy (Station 41) delivered the traditional Christmas season victory in a total time of 1:53:16. A San Francisco based FBI team was second in the Law Enforcement Division.

For the past 31 years the San Francisco Firefighters have been victorious in all but three occasions: losing once to a San Jose Police team and once to a Contra Costa Firefighter team consisting of runners from different jurisdictions. In addition to winning the Law Enforcement Division twenty-eight times, other San Francisco Firefighter teams competing in other divisions, have claimed victory in the “Women’s Corporate Division” and “Men’s Clydesdale Division”. Congratulations to our present competitors - McDonnell, Guillen, Kircher and Murphy for sustaining the reputation supplied by an FBI runner, “We have heard about you sharks!”
