JOHNNY VOLKER’ S BENEFIT AT BIMBO’S
By: Steve Smith, Station 1
On Friday, June 3rd 2005, a benefit hosted by Barbary Coast Wind and Fire M/C was held At Bimbo’s 365 Club in North Beach for John Volker, it was a huge success.

Thanks to the effort and continuous support from Stations One and Nine and the leadership and organizational skills of FFs Keith Onishi (Sta. 1), John Rocco (Sta. 8) and Pat Hanna (Sta. 15) the evening was a tribute to John from his family and friends. Contributions and donations exceeded our expectations with special thanks to our Union Local 798 and the SFFD Credit Union and of course, Gino the manager of Bimbo’s.

Our gratitude to the evenings entertainment: Deejay Eigel Qwist (Sta.8), band Deep Six (John Diluzio Sta. l, Dan Gracia Sta. l) and band SFFD Ultimate Garage Band for donating their time and music. Mike Guttman (Ret. Sta.2) flew in from Colorado to join Deep Six, a great Conga player.

The winner of the 2005 Harley Davidson was Chris Plizga and our own Father Green won the leather motorcycle jacket.

These two events raised more than $30,000.00 for the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundations Champ Camp for children that Johnny so deeply cares about and $21,300.00 for the care and support John still requires at this time.

As always, brothers, we come together in a time of crisis. Thanks and sincere appreciation to all who contributed.
