    Firefighters Needed for photo shoot

Local 798 is looking for firefighters who would like to be in a photo shoot that will be for the print campaign for the 2020 ESER Bond supported by the local. This bond will help the fire department with money for infrastructure and fire stations as well as a new training facility and AWSS equipment. We need about 20 firefighters in non-department issued clothing for about an hour or two.

Cancer is killing firefighters: Toxins found in burning materials

Cancer is now responsible for more than 60% of job-related deaths among firefighters in the U.S. Now, fire departments across the nation are looking for ways to make one of the country’s riskiest occupations safer. NBC’s Natalie Morales reports for TODAY. https://www.today.

A Spark That Lit a Huge Fire in the Hearts of Local 798 SF Firefighters

Over 50 years ago, the San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program started when a few local firefighters wanted to help some families that lost their homes and all of their possessions when a fire destroyed everything that they owned. These firefighters were inspired to help – so they decided to fix up a few bikes and delivered them on Christmas Eve to the homes of the children. This is when the SF Firefighters Toy Program was born.
