The Chief of the Department is moving on possible discipline for actions taken by our members at the high-rise fire at 360 Post Street on October 14, 2009. As I write this, I am shocked and angered by the mere mention of possible discipline being handed down to anyone who responded to this incident.  When the decision was made to conduct an inquiry about what caused the injuries to our members, I was selected to be part of the team of interviewers.  (Chief Cardinale, Captain Velo and Chief Bourke made up the rest of the group).  Each and every interview that I was present at Chief Cardinale stated that this was to be a fact finding event and that no discipline would come from any information obtained by the Department.  Now, after a report has been produced (which my name is on, even though I did not help process any information that was obtained) nearly 6 months after the incident; the administration wants to punish our members for trying to locate, investigate, and fight a high-rise fire.  The actions being taken (considered) by the administration with regards to discipline are in violation of the Firefighters Bill of Rights.  The Executive Board at Local 798 is going to fight this (along with our attorney) 100%!
